Meet our summer intern, Emma!

launch date — May 15, 2020

We are super excited to welcome Emma Harris, our 2020 summer intern, to the team! We were lucky to have met Emma in person during the pre-coronavirus era. We knew that we wanted someone local who would be able to work with us at our office in Southpointe (the joke is on us now, huh?).

In addition to having someone local, we wanted someone who is a hard worker because we have some top-secret initiatives we’re planning to launch this summer to help shine a light on women-owned businesses in the Pittsburgh area.

We also wanted someone who is just a good human because we knew whoever it was that would be joining us would have to be able to handle being part of the family! We found a perfect addition to the team when we found Emma, but don’t take our word for it. We’ll let her introduce herself!

Hi there! My name is Emma and I am a soon-to-be junior at Penn State studying advertising and media. I just recently started as an intern at Waterloo Street working for the trendiest sisters, Hannah and Rachel, for the summer of 2020 and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m looking forward to gaining experience in so many different types of areas including content creation, blogging (go easy on me this is my first post), and social media marketing. Here’s a little more about me 🙂

I’ve lived just outside of Pittsburgh my whole life and would one day love to move to the city. I was a part of a club in high school called DECA which sparked my interest in the marketing world. I competed against hundreds of other students in Pennsylvania by creating campaigns for small businesses to present to judges. I even got to travel to Nashville, Anaheim, and Atlanta for Nationals!

Along with DECA, I also became interested in graphic design and spent a week at Pratt Institute learning all the ins and outs of what makes a successful designer. Once I got to Penn State, I learned even more about the field after taking a handful of graphics courses. Just this past winter, I was able to land my first freelance job redesigning a logo for a small handmade soap company in Pearland, Texas!

One of my favorite things to do is travel and see new places but unfortunately, I’ve never been outside the country 🙁 (Lame, I know.) I would love to be able to visit Italy someday and try all of the amazing food there. Speaking of food, trying out new restaurants is another favorite activity of mine. I guess you could classify me as a passionate and exceptionally brave foodie because I’ll try just about anything. If you’ve never heard of a poké bowl, I suggest you try one, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. If you have any questions or just want to chat about how to not lose your mind during quarantine, you can reach me at emma@waterloostreet.co!
