Staying on the topic of Instagram, today’s blog is focused on Instagram Insights. Instagram provides a free insights dashboard if you have a business account set up. For more information on how to switch to a business account, click here. The Insights dashboard allows you to evaluate your posts, followers, stories, and other promotions. It’s a great way to get a feel of what content is working on your page and what’s not resonating with your audience as much.
Instagram Insights is an analytics tool that provides statistics on follower demographics, along with engagement with your content. Understanding this type of data will help you easily measure campaigns and see how individual posts are doing.
Keep in mind they only work on mobile, and can’t yet be accessed on a laptop or desktop. Maybe someday soon!
Some key terms you’ll want to know regarding Instagram Insights are activity, content, and audience. The activity tab is where you’ll find the number of users who have visited your profile, the number of times users have clicked on the website link in your bio, and how many times your “Email” or “Call” button has been utilized. Activity is also where you’ll be able to see your reach and impressions of your content.
The content tab is more about individuality. It shows you the number of comments on a photo, the number of accounts that started following you because of a certain post, and the number of times your page has been viewed.
Finally, we have the audience tab. This is where you will be able to see where your followers are based and how your follower count has varied within the past week. You can even check out the gender percentage split between the users who follow your account, their age brackets, and their most active times on Instagram by hour of the day and days of the week.
If you ever switch your business account back to a personal account, you will lose all of your insights, so keep a heads up. To access your Instagram Insights from your main profile, simply click the four-bar icon in the top right of the screen next to your username.
In order to see the analytics of an Instagram Story, tap the “Seen by ____” in the bottom left corner.
To check out the data for a singular post, click on the desired upload and tap “View Insights” in the bottom left corner of the screen.
The Insights homepage will allow you to see the data for all the content you’ve uploaded within the last seven days. You can even see the number of followers you have gained in that amount of time.
These days, it’s so important to have an Instagram account set up for your brand (keeping your target audience in mind, obviously). 200 million Instagram users visit at least one business profile daily! By posting content that resonates with your audience, you can easily increase your number of brand mentions. Also, more people will take notice of what you have to offer.
Smaller brands have started to optimize their Instagram profiles and exceed the influence of more established companies. Instagram is key when it comes to social engagement, even more so than Facebook and Twitter. By keeping up with social media and using tools such as Instagram Insights to better understand your audience, your brand can flourish.
We hope this rundown allowed you to better grasp the basics of Instagram Insights. It’s a great tool for businesses to know how to use. Subscribe to our email list and check back next week for more information on how to best optimize your social media!
